The first in Australia, 1R is a UK-based gym that is more nightclub than gymnasium. Located on Chapel Street in South Yarra, VIC, the 1,000m2 facility consists of an arrival lounge and café at Ground Level, and a large 800m2 underground gym and amenities area.

Being underground and directly below retail and hospitality premises, solutions were designed to meet stringent acoustic requirements without compromising the client’s club level audio system. A complex ventilation control strategy was also required to ensure each space was constantly provided with extra-over outdoor air, whilst ensuring the tenancy was maintained at an appropriate positive pressure.
